Below are my answers to the assignment "Week 2 Reading Reflection"
1) What was the biggest surprise for you in the reading? In other words,
what did you read that stood out the most as different from your
expectations?
I thought it
was interesting to see how the author compared Entrepreneurs to Small-business
owners and then went on to describe their differences. I have never really thought of the difference
between to the two and have pretty much used them interchangeably. I think his thoughts on the matter are
correct, that entrepreneurs have a larger focus on innovation and that small
business owners have a less aggressive, larger focus on stability.
2) Identify at least one part of the reading that was confusing to you.
I could not a
find a part of the reading that was confusing to me, it seemed like a pretty
easy read.
3) If you were able to ask two questions to the author, what would you
ask? Why?
What are your
personal experiences with entrepreneurship? I’m curious about his background,
probably going to Google him after I finish this assignment.
How did the “school
of thought” approaches to entrepreneurship come about? I’m curious about how
they came about.
4) Was there anything you think the author was wrong about? Where do you
disagree with what she or he said? How?
Not really. I
am a little skeptical how entrepreneurship can be taught out of a book. To me, it seems like a skill that is learned
mostly through experiences rather than “Macro and Micro schools of thought” and
other theories. Although the authors theories are interesting to read.
