I have been exposed to entrepreneurship many times in my
life. Growing up, my grandpa owned a
hardware store in a small town of about 7,000.
His hardware store was located in Pittsfield, Illinois. He had started his business when he was in
his 30’s and sold it when he was in his 70’s.
I spent a lot of time in the hardware store growing up, watching my
grandpa work and running through the aisles.
His store was very successful and exposed me to entrepreneurship at a
young age.
I enrolled in ENT 3003 for a couple of reasons. The first reason being that it is required
for my Minor in Innovation in the Innovation Academy Program. The second reason I am in the class and the
reason I am in the Innovation Academy Program is that I am genuinely interested
in entrepreneurship. I have my own
startup that I work in with a few of my friends. We are currently working on developing a
social app. Hopefully my experience in
this class will benefit my startup.
Attached is a picture of the square or "courtyard" in Pittsfield, Illinois. My grandpa's hardware store was located on the corner of the square.

I love how one of your first exposures to entrepreneurship happened to be shared with a family member (your grandpa). I believe that makes it a very special memory and a great reason to follow his successful path. (:
ReplyDeleteHey Parker, that's really cool that you were able to be exposed to a successful entrepreneurial venture and I'm sure you gained some experience just by spending time in a place like that. I want to do something in clothing design and I have always wanted to see how a brand is managed. Also, starting a business with friends seems like such a great time, I hope to meet people with a similar passion so I can have some help like you do.
